EPAS Performance Electric Power Steering Conversion Kit for Late 1967 Mustangs with Short Shaft Steering Box.
This EPAS Performance electric power steering conversion kit makes pulling out of a driveway or parking spot much easier. A direct fit upgrade for your classic, these conversion kits are a premium upgrade with all components included.
Features and Benefits:
- 60 amp electric motor unit
- Includes all mounting hardware
- Prewired control module
- Features a low 9 amp draw
The entire electric power steering unit fits under the dashboard which helps keep your engine bay tidy and the unit will work with OEM steering or a rack and pinion conversion with the correct rack adapter (not included). This Electric Power Steering Kit includes a control module that measures the amount of effort applied to the steering wheel and amplifies it with the aid of the electric motor.
An included potentiometer should be mounted within reach as it allows you to adjust and control the amount of assistance provided by the electric motor on-the-fly. For example, you can have maximum power assist while in a parking lot, and less on the highway. The system is only active while turning and features a low 9 amp draw.
This Electric Power Steering kit will work on both manual and power steering equipped cars. Electric power steering does not use any fluid and it is recommended that the factory power steering (if equipped) slave cylinder and control valve be disconnected from the power steering.
Please Note: Some cutting, drilling, tapping and wiring is required for installation. Although this kit is made to work with the factory steering column, modifications to the steering column are required. An upgraded electrical system is not required. Electrical wiring is plug and play except for a required power source and ground.
Tech Tip: MSA2 can be used to replace the power steering control valve while keeping the center link connected to the pitman arm.
