No modifications are necessary to install this direct-fit Stainless Steel 22-Gallon Fuel Tank Conversion Kit into your 1967-1968 Mustang. The tank is made using original dimensions, measuring 32-5/8" x 24-1/2" x 9-3/4", with special rust and corrosion-resistant coating. This brand-new conversion ensures an accurate fuel level gauge operation thanks to the stainless steel Fuel Tank Sending Unit. The unit includes a 3/8" outlet tube and uses a brand-new brass float, retaining ring, o-ring gasket and filter.

Your 1967 or 1968 Mustang's original filler neck will no longer work with the new 22-gallon tank and must be replaced. That is why this conversion kit includes a custom Fuel Filler Pipe, designed to be a direct bolt-on replacement that lines up perfectly with the neck on the 1970 Mustang's 22-gallon fuel tank. The brand new, high-quality Fuel Filler Pipe is made from thicker steel compared to the original filler pipe found in your Mustangs. It features the correct notch for the gas cap seal to let air in and is designed so that the gas cap fits tight. A custom Fuel Filler Pipe connects the new 22-Gallon Fuel Tank to a durable, 4" long Fuel Tank Filler Hose.

Please Note: Molded trunk mats will no longer fit properly when a 22-Gallon Fuel Tank Conversion Kit is used because the larger fuel tank will eliminate the hole that the molded trunk mats fit into.
