The pro series from MBRP as you can see is a muffler delete. It's going to fit any 2015 through 2017 Mustang GT. It's available in two different versions available in the black version shown here which is aluminized piping with a black powder-coated finish. It is also available in a stainless with a polished tip. Again, these are going to require cutting for installation but are very easy to install. For this installation, a lift or a jack in jack stand, 3/8 ratchet, 15-mm socket, 5/16 Allen key, short extension, tape measure, marker, Sawzall, file, and safety glasses.
Because it's an axle back, this will require cutting for installation. You're going to cut right in this area here. You want to make sure you get the cut in the right place. You want to remove the exhaust and cut it, you can, but you can actually do it on the car.
Where we're going to cut is the short, straight section of pipe right here before it curves into the muffler. You want to cut at the end of the short, straight section where it curves here. What you want to do is make sure you have at least two inches of straight section. We're going to cut right at this curve right here. While we're cutting the pipe off right here, we're going to put some rags on the tip or even better, have somebody actually hold the muffler because as soon as you cut it, it is going to fall down.
Once you have a cut, work the muffler forward and get it off the hanger. Then, repeat the process on the other side. Once you cut it, just go over it with a file to make there are no large pieces sticking off of it.
Grab one of the supplied clamps and put it over the pipe then put the pipe up into the rear hanger first until it lines up and slide it over. Make sure the pipe is where you want it and we can snug up the clamp. Then, grab the exhaust tip, slide it over and get it where you want it then tighten it down. Repeat the process on the other side.
Our MBRP pro series axle back fits well, let's see how it sounds. I still like the sound of a muffler delete as long as you keep the factory resonator in place or a high-flow resonator, muffler deletes sound really good on these cars.
There are other muffler deletes out there, but as usual, the MBRP fits good, quality product, and a very good price point as well. I still say this is one of the best-sounding options if you're looking for keeping the stock resonator, not looking to do a whole Cat Back, because the muffler delete gives you a nice, deep normal good-sounding exhaust tone, very similar to the stock when cruising, but more volume than obviously when you get on it, it really gets a lot louder.
When you do get on it, at cruising speeds or on the highway, put it in sixth. It's quiet and no drone, no resonance, no nothing back there at all. To me, this is a sound that Ford could have easily done from the factory. It's got a nice, good tone to it. It's loud when you want it to be loud. It's not overly obnoxious, but it has that nice Mustang sound when you're really getting to the throttle.
If you're looking for a nice basic upgrade to make your Mustang sound a lot better without going into ... for a very low cost of entry, definitely check out the MBRP pro series.
