How to Install Ditch Lights on a 2021+ Ford Bronco

Ford Bronco ditch lights are incredibly useful additions to your rig that help light up dark trails and roads at night. They mount on your side mirrors and project beams of light onto either side of your vehicle to help you watch out for ditches, rocks, or anything else that doesn't get illuminated by your headlights.

2021+ Ford Bronco Ditch Lights Installation Guide

In this installation guide, we'll walk you through how to install 2021+ Ford Bronco ditch lights. Ditch lights are a great addition to any serious offroad rig and give you some added lighting when you're out on the trail. They also help improve the look of your front end, so they should definitely be considered when customizing your Bronco. Keep in mind that you're not allowed to use Bronco ditch lights on the road due to their intense brightness.

We're installing the ditch lights from Diode Dynamics onto our Base model Bronco. The Base model doesn't come with auxiliary switches from the factory. If you have the factory auxiliary switches, the wiring process for your Bronco ditch lights is going to be a bit different.

Tools Needed

• Socket Wrench
• T30 Torx Bit
• Plastic Pry Tool
• Allen Wrench

Step 1: Remove Antenna

Unscrew the radio antenna on the passenger's side with your hands until you're able to remove it completely.

Step 2: Remove Cowl Bolt

Locate the T30 Torx bolt next to where you removed the antenna and remove it. Then, go over to the driver's side of your Bronco and do the same thing.

Be sure to store the two T30 bolts in a safe place since they'll be needed later.

Step 3: Pry Hood Cowl Up

Slide a plastic pry tool in between the hood cowl and side mirror on the passenger's side and gently pry the hood cowl up until it separates. Then, repeat the process on the driver's side.

Step 4: Locate Orange Connectors

Open the hood and locate the orange-ended connectors on the Diode Dynamics ditch lights wiring harness. One will go to the passenger's side and the other to the driver's side.

Step 5: Route Wiring Harness

Take one end of the orange-ended connector and slide it underneath the hood cowl through the engine bay. Route the orange-ended connector towards the back end of the cowl by the side mirror. Then, repeat the process on the other side.

Step 6: Route Ditch Light Button Into Automatic Transmission Bronco Cabin (OPTIONAL)

If you have an automatic 2021+ Ford Bronco, you can route the ditch light button through the hole where the clutch lines go on the manual in the engine bay. Simply push the rubber grommet on the back of the engine bay in and feed the button and wiring harness through into the cabin.

If you have a manual Bronco, skip this step and refer to the next one for guidance on how to route the button into the cabin.

Step 7: Route Ditch Light Button Into Manual Transmission Bronco Cabin

Locate the small hole next to the clutch line on the driver's side of the engine bay

Then, disconnect the wires from the ditch light button and feed it through that small hole in the engine bay.

After you've fed the wires through, reconnect them to the ditch light button in the cabin.

Step 8: Connect Power and Ground Wires

Connect the power wire (red) and ground (black) wires to their respective places. Be sure to connect the ground wire to bare metal without any paint covering it to ensure the best connection.

Step 9: Install Mounting Brackets

Locate the hole where you removed the T30 Torx bolt earlier and screw the mounting bracket into place using the bolt you removed before and a washer. Then, repeat this process on the other side.

Step 10: Mount Ditch Lights

Slot the four nuts that came with the Diode Dynamics kit into place on the back of each ditch light. There should be two nuts for each light.

Then, slide the ditch light into place on the mounting bracket and tighten it into place with a washer between the light and bracket using an Allen wrench. Repeat this process on the other side.

Step 11: Connect Ditch Light

Insert the orange-ended connectors coming out of the hood cowl into the back of each respective ditch light.

Step 12: Reinstall Antenna

Screw your antenna back into place on the passenger side of your 2021+ Bronco.

Congratulations, you're all done!

One Final Check Before Hitting the Trails

After you've finished installing your Bronco ditch lights, be sure to test them and make sure everything is working properly. If everything is working well, clean up your wiring and make sure nothing is near hot or moving parts.
