2027 Ford Mustang Colors

As the S650 generation heads into another model year, we're starting to get an idea of what the 2027 Ford Mustang color lineup could look like. Ford hasn't released the complete list of 2027 Mustang colors yet, but we can make some educated guesses based on the current lineup, recent color trends, and the first 2027 Mustang models Ford has revealed.

We expect plenty of familiar colors like Race Red, Shadow Black, and Oxford White to stick around, but Ford will almost certainly make a few changes as well. One new shade has already made its debut for 2027, while several colors from the current lineup could be on their way out.

The complete 2027 Ford Mustang color lineup has not been announced. Colors listed as returning or retiring are predictions based on currently available information and are subject to change. Sample colors are for representation purposes and may not accurately portray actual paint color due to screen settings, metallic finish, etc.

New 2027 Mustang Colors

Ford hasn't revealed the complete 2027 Mustang color lineup yet, but we already know of at least one exciting new shade coming to the Mustang family.

Precision Purple

Precision Purple is one of the first colors we've seen associated with the 2027 Ford Mustang. Ford debuted the dramatic shade on the new Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible, and it might be one of the most interesting colors of the entire S650 generation.

Rather than being a simple purple, Precision Purple features a color-shifting finish that changes depending on lighting and viewing angle. That's especially appropriate for a special model like the Dark Horse SC Convertible, which combines the Mustang's supercharged V8 performance with a more street-focused, grand-touring personality.

So far, Precision Purple has only been shown on the Dark Horse SC Convertible. Whether Ford expands it to other 2027 Mustang models remains to be seen, but we're hoping this one doesn't stay exclusive for long.

Likely Returning 2027 Mustang Colors

Until Ford releases the official order guide, we won't know exactly which current Mustang colors are staying. However, these shades have a good chance of returning based on Ford's recent color strategy and how long each has been available.

Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat

Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat returned to the Mustang lineup for 2026 after several years away, so we'd be surprised if Ford dropped it after only one model year. It's exactly the kind of bold color that belongs on a Mustang and gives buyers an option that stands apart from the usual reds, blues, and neutrals.

Orange Fury has plenty of metallic depth and becomes especially vibrant in direct sunlight. Unless Ford already has another bright orange or yellow waiting in the wings, we're expecting Orange Fury to return for 2027.

Adriatic Blue Metallic

Adriatic Blue Metallic was one of the headline additions for the 2026 Mustang, arriving alongside the retro-inspired FX Package. Since Ford developed the color as part of a larger push to bring Fox Body-inspired styling to the S650, it seems unlikely that Adriatic Blue will disappear after just one year.

The teal-blue finish is one of the most distinctive colors currently available on the Mustang and gives the lineup something completely different from its darker blue options. We think there's a strong chance Adriatic Blue Metallic sticks around for 2027.

Avalanche Gray

Avalanche Gray joined the broader Mustang lineup for 2026 and gives enthusiasts a lighter neutral option than Carbonized Gray. The flat gray appearance works especially well with the S650's black exterior trim and aggressive body lines.

Ford has used Avalanche across several performance vehicles over the years, so we think it has a good chance of returning for the 2027 Mustang. It's neutral enough to appeal to plenty of buyers while still looking more interesting than a traditional silver.

Vapor Blue Metallic

Vapor Blue Metallic has been available since the beginning of the S650 generation and remains one of its signature colors. The bluish-gray finish looks different depending on lighting conditions and gives buyers a subtle alternative to more conventional gray and silver paints.

It has been around for several model years at this point, which does put Vapor Blue at some risk of being replaced. Still, its popularity and strong connection to the S650 make us think Ford will give it at least one more year.

Race Red

Race Red feels about as safe as any prediction on this list. Bright red has always been a natural fit for the Mustang, and Race Red continues to provide buyers with a simple, bold option that looks good on everything from an EcoBoost to a Dark Horse.

Ford could eventually swap Race Red for another red shade, but we'd expect some form of bright red to remain available. For now, Race Red is our pick to return for the 2027 Mustang.

Carbonized Gray Metallic

Carbonized Gray Metallic has become one of Ford's go-to neutral colors, and there's little reason to expect that to change for 2027. Its dark gunmetal appearance works especially well with the aggressive styling of the S650 Mustang.

While it doesn't grab attention like Orange Fury or Adriatic Blue, Carbonized Gray is an easy color to build around. Black wheels, stripes, carbon fiber, and just about any other exterior upgrade pair nicely with it.

Shadow Black

There's almost no chance Ford offers a Mustang without a black paint option, and Shadow Black remains the obvious candidate for 2027. The deep finish has been part of Ford's lineup for years and continues to look great on the S650.

Shadow Black can be difficult to keep clean, but a freshly detailed black Mustang is tough to beat. It's also an excellent starting point for an aggressive build with contrasting wheels, stripes, or exterior accents.

Oxford White

Oxford White is another safe bet for 2027. Ford has used the color across its lineup for decades, and the straightforward white finish provides Mustang buyers with a clean, timeless option.

It might not be as exciting as some of the Mustang's more vibrant paints, but Oxford White looks good on virtually every trim and works especially well with black appearance packages and contrasting stripes.

Potentially Retiring Mustang Colors

Ford changes at least a few Mustang colors almost every year, so something from the current palette will probably have to make room for the new additions. These are the colors we think are most vulnerable heading into 2027.

Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat

Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat has been one of the more unusual colors offered during the S650 generation. Depending on the lighting, it can range from a dark metallic red to a much more noticeable purple.

That's what makes Molten Magenta so interesting, but it could also make the color expendable if Ford expands Precision Purple availability for 2027. Two premium paints with strong purple characteristics could overlap too much in the same lineup.

We're not ready to say Molten Magenta is definitely gone, but if Ford needs to make room for a new color, this is one of the first shades we'd watch.

Blue Ember Metallic

Blue Ember Metallic has had an unusual run during the S650 generation. Originally introduced as a Dark Horse-exclusive color, the extremely dark blue helped establish the visual identity of Ford's newest performance Mustang.

Ford has continued using Blue Ember on select Mustang configurations, but with new performance models like the Dark Horse SC bringing their own styling and color options, 2027 could finally be the year Blue Ember leaves the lineup.

That said, Ford clearly likes using exclusive paint colors to separate its highest-performance Mustang models, so Blue Ember could still survive on a limited number of trims.

What Will the 2027 Mustang Color Lineup Look Like?

There are still plenty of unanswered questions surrounding the 2027 Ford Mustang color lineup. Precision Purple gives us our first look at what's new, but Ford will likely make additional changes before the complete 2027 order guide is released.

We're expecting staples like Race Red, Shadow Black, Oxford White, and Carbonized Gray Metallic to stick around. Newer additions like Orange Fury and Adriatic Blue also seem likely to get another year. The biggest question is which current colors Ford will retire to make room for whatever else it has planned.
