2025 Mustang Colors
Last Updated January 3, 2025 | Nate MoonisWith the S650 generation entering its second year, it's no surprise that Ford would shake up the paint color lineup. One of the biggest surprises from the announcement of the 2025 model year is the discontinuation of four colors, Atlas Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic, Yellow Splash Metallic, and Dark Matter Gray Metallic. Don't worry though, there are still plenty of great options if you're looking to get a 2025 Mustang.

New 2025 Mustang Colors
Ford has announced three additions to the color lineup for the 2025 model year.
Molten Magenta Metallic
All new for the 2025 model year, Molten Magenta Metallic is hard to pin down. In the online builder and some of the promotional material, it looks very red. However, it seems to transform when hit with direct sunlight. The dominant red overtones take a backseat to a really impressive purple color. This is one of those colors that shines in-person.
Indulgent Blue
Exclusive to the 2025 Mustang GTD, Indulgent Blue was recently previewed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where Ford took part in the famous hill climb event.
Indulgent Blue is a part of Ford's "Extended Color Palette" program where buyers can create their own custom color to go along with the standard six colors available on the 2025 Mustang GTD. This all-new blue looked great on the Mustang GTD and we can't wait to see what other colors are possible with Ford's new Extended Color Palette.
Intense Lime Yellow Metallic
With Ford finalizing the 2025 Mustang color lineup, many were surprised to see the addition of this brand new, never-before-seen Intense Lime Yellow Metallic color.
This new color is reminiscent of the Lime Gold found on 60s Mustangs, but with a slightly more muted look. Intense Lime Yellow is huge departure from the Mustang color palette of the last few years, but it gives the 2025 color lineup some much needed pop.
Returning 2025 Mustang Colors
Blue Ember Metallic
Blue Ember Metallic was introduced in the 2024 model year as an exclusive option for the all-new Dark Horse. This cool and dark blue looks great from every angle, so it's not surprise that Ford brought it back for 2025. If you're looking for a darker, mean-looking shade for your 2025 Mustang Dark Horse but don't want black, Blue Ember Metallic is for you.
Race Red
Race Red continues to be brought back by Ford every year, and it's not hard to see why it's one of the longest-running Mustang colors to date. It's a very bright red that stands out in a crowd. While it's a pretty flat red, it's the only true "red" in the 2025 lineup.
Carbonized Gray Metallic
Another returning color, Carbonized Gray Metallic is pretty good as far as grays go.
This gunmetal-esque gray looks great when paired with the aggressive styling of the S650 Mustang. Ford has used it on various accessories and trim pieces in the past few years, so it's safe to say Carbonized Gray Metallic will be sticking around for the 2025 model year and many more to come.
Iconic Silver Metallic
The 2025 Mustang was always going to need a simple, easy-to-style neutral color to be popular on EcoBoosts and GTs. Iconic Silver, while not an ugly color by any means, is definitely one of the most boring colors available. Iconic Silver is set to make its return for the 2025 model year.
Vapor Blue Metallic
Debuting in 2024 for the start of the S650 generation, Vapor Blue Metallic is a bluish-gray color that stands out from the rest of the lineup. Reminiscent of Honda's Sonic Gray, but slightly darker, this gives enthusiasts a more understated option without going for the typical grays, whites, and blacks. I'm a huge fun of this color and am extremely happy it returned for 2025.
Grabber Blue Metallic
Grabber Blue is one of the most iconic Mustang paint colors of all time, so it's no surprise that it made the cut for the 2025 model year.
The new Grabber Blue isn't exactly like the old one. It's brighter and has more of a metallic shine to it now. But don't worry, it's still that fun, in-your-face blue that catches everyone's eye. If you want a color that'll make people look twice and get your friends talking, this is it.
Shadow Black
Ford's been using Shadow Black as their go-to black since 2016. Also called Absolute Black, Shadow Black has cool blue undertones and a pearly shine to it. That makes it awesome if you want to mod your 2025 Mustang. Shadow Black also features rich metallic fleck that makes it looks awesome on its own.
Oxford White
White always looks good on a sports car, and Oxford White is no exception. This color was always a safe bet to return, but now it's been officially confirmed by Ford.
While not as interesting or historic as the Wimbledon White offered on the 60th Anniversary Mustang, Oxford White is sure to be a popular option. Expect to see many Oxford White 2025 Mustangs cruising around your local meets once the 2025s start getting delivered.
Retiring 2025 Mustang Colors
Rapid Red Metallic
Initially, I was surprised that Rapid Red Metallic was retired. But, it makes more sense the more you look at the color lineup for 2025.
Rapid Red is a very rich, glossy shade of red that was featured heavily in promotional material for the 2024 Mustang. However, its niche in the 2025 color palette gets called into question with the addition of Molten Magenta Metallic. Ford probably thought Rapid Red was a bit redundant and kicked it to the curb for 2025 because of that.
Yellow Splash
This one was surprising. Yellow Splash was an all-new color for the 2024 model year that gave fans the bright yellow they'd been missing since Grabber Yellow's discontinuation in 2021. However, Ford decided that one year of Yellow Splash was enough and got rid of it for 2025.
Atlas Blue
With the addition of Vapor Blue Metallic, Blue Ember Metallic, and now Indulgent Blue, Atlas Blue's inclusion for 2025 was always in question. Ford clearly didn't want to overwhelming customers with too many blues, so Atlas Blue was the one to get cut for 2025.
Dark Matter Gray Metallic
Another casualty of its similarity to other colors in the lineup, Dark Matter Gray Metallic has been left behind for the 2025 model year. This gray was so dark that it almost looked black, making it redundant. While I'm sad to see it go, it's not surprising.
A Huge Shake Up in Year Two
While not as extensive as first year of the S650, the 2025 model year has plenty of impressive color options. It's sad to see interesting colors like Yellow Splash and Atlas Blue go, but Ford has done a good job of giving buyers a variety of options to choose from.
