How to Install a Ford Bronco Auto Stop Eliminator

Auto start-stop functions are legally mandated on many modern vehicles, but some drivers find them to be more annoying than useful. Installing an auto start-stop eliminator on your Ford Bronco disables the auto-stop setting by default without taking away the functionality altogether. Read below for a step-by-step guide on how to permanently turn off the auto-stop function on your Ford Bronco through an auto-stop eliminator install. All you'll need is the part, some hand tools, and a few minutes.

Pick up a Bronco auto start-stop eliminator that fits your model year before you begin the installation.

Parts and Tools Needed:

  • Panel Removal Tool
  • Ratchet

Step 1: Remove Lower Console Panel

At the base of the center console, use a panel removal tool to unhook the side panel clips. Remove the panel from the console.

Step 2: Remove Trim Panel Under Steering Wheel

Locate the trim panel under your Bronco's steering wheel. Use your hands to unhook the trim clips and remove the panel.

Step 3: Unscrew Dash Bolts

Use a ratchet to unscrew the two bolts supporting the dash panel.

Step 4: Remove Glove Box Bolt

Open the glove box and locate the support bolt near the top of the inside panel. Remove the bolt using a ratchet.

Step 5: Remove Center Console Panel

With the bolts removed, use a panel removal tool to unhook the trim clips and remove the center console panel.

Step 6: Connect Auto Stop Eliminator

Disconnect the top wiring harness from the console. Plug the harness connector into the auto stop eliminator, then connect the eliminator to the original port.

Pro Tip: Using a zip tie to hold the new eliminator in place can help organize the wires when you reinstall the console.

Step 7: Reinstall Console

Reinsert the console panel and connect the trim clips. Reinstall the bolts as well as the side and bottom trim panels

Congratulations, you're all done!

Turn off auto stop on your 2021 Ford Bronco

with your Bronco's auto-start/stop function disabled, your engine will no longer shut off while you're sitting in traffic or at a stop sign. You'll still be able to turn on the setting if you'd like, but now you won't need to think about it whenever you start your engine.
