S550 Mustang Fog Light Installation

Adding a set of aftermarket S550 Mustang fog lights is an easy and cheap way to improve nighttime visibility and change the look of the front end. In this article, we're going to be installing a set of fog lights from Diode Dynamics. These fog lights were meant to be direct replacements for the 2015-2017 EcoBoost, GT, and V6 Mustangs. Because Ford did away with circular fog lights with the 2018 front-end refresh, you won't be able to install these on 2018 and later models.

While we're installing a set of from Diode Dynamics in this video, the process is largely the same for any direct replacement fog light.

Mustang Fog Light Install Instructions

Before you attempt to install your new fog lights, it's a good idea to jack your car up and remove your front wheels. This isn't required but can give you extra room to work and make the process quicker and easier. If you decide to not raise your car and take the front wheels off, be sure to turn your steering wheel to full lock to make accessing the fog lights as easy as possible.

The installation process is the same on both sides, so repeat the steps for each side as necessary.

Parts and Tools Needed:

• Small Flathead Screwdriver
• Clip Removal Tool
• 7mm Socket

Step 1: Pull Back Fender Liner

Remove the five plastic clips holding the front of the fender liner in place. Then, pull back the fender liner to easily access the fog light housing.

Step 2: Remove Fog Light

Unplug the wiring harness from the back of the fog light and unscrew the three screws holding it in place. Carefully remove the factory fog light.

Step 3: Install Aftermarket Fog Light

Insert the aftermarket fog light into the area where the factory fog light was. Reinstall the factory screws to secure it into place.

Step 4: Reconnect Factory Wiring

Reconnect the factory wiring harness by plugging it into the socket on the back of the aftermarket fog light.

Step 5: Reinstall Fender Liner Hardware

Move your fender liner back into place and reconnect the factory hardware.

Congratulations, you're all done!
