Product Description
Pair of Ridetech StrongArm Upper Control Arms for use with Shockwaves or Coilovers on 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 Mustangs.
The Ridetech StrongArm is a precision engineered solution for Shockwave installation, ball joint binding and frame clearance issues that can haunt some vehicles. This set of tubular control arms was built with performance in mind. Development took place in Indiana on an actual running and driving vehicle so all fitment and performance issues could be properly addressed. Don't upgrade your suspension and reuse OEM stamped steel control arms. StrongArms are built with all of the care and experience you have come to expect from Ridetech.
StrongArms are designed with as few components as possible to keep things simple. A 4-axis tube bender allows precise, repeatable bends. StrongArms are jig welded with .219" wall DOM tubing for proper fit and long lasting strength and reliability. Optimized ball joint angle ensures no binding during extreme suspension travel. Working closely with Moog, Ridetech ensured the proper ball joints were selected for each application. A black powder coated finish creates lasting appearance and protection. StrongArms are preassembled with ball joints and bushings and ready to bolt on.
The upper StrongArm cross shaft lowers the pivot point. Lowering the pivot point of the upper control arm increases camber gain. This also helps keep the tire flat on the road surface when you are going through hard corners. The drop is built into the control arm cross shaft so no modifications are needed. All these upgrades are achieved in a bolt-on part. Fine tuning of your alignment can be done with the fully adjustable upper control arm.
Geometry of the suspension starts with the position of the frame mounts and height of the spindle. However, there are a few small aspects in control arm design that can make a big difference in how a vehicle drives and performs. Fore and aft positions of the ball joints are adjusted which creates extra caster potential. Ridetech makes sure the wheel is properly positioned in the wheel-well so 18" wheels fit like they should. Ball joint camber travel is re-centered to accommodate the new lowered ride height so the ball joint doesn't bind during extreme suspension movement. StrongArms are optimized to allow proper camber adjustment with a lowered ride height so a large stack of alignment shims is not needed.
*StrongArms must be used with Ridetech coilovers or Shockwaves.
