Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lokar I bought this a few months ago and installed it first of all the factor throttle rod was in the way of the kick down bracket on the carb so I called lokar and they said you have to have the throttle kit and gas pedal to go with the kick down. So I got everything to do the job right, I installed the throttle cable and gas pedal that all went well and looks amazing, then I went to finish the kick down where the bracket mounts to the transmission it is in direct line the the shift rod so once again I called lokar and they said they never had an issue with this. So I sent him a factory shift rod to install on there c4 and sent several pictures and they responded that this will not work with the factory shifter and they would look in making a bracket so it will work with the factor shifter and rod but it would take month's , I said ok will you keep me posted at least once a month even if nothing has been done I still have not heard anything

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install I didn't have a lockdown on my 66 mustang C4 and this was a life saver install to really wake up the 302 crate I had just put in.

Product Questions

Does the installation of the Lokar kickdown kit on a 65 with a C-4 also require the installation of their cable throttle?  Can the stock Mustang throttle linkage be retained?

Asked by: JGZ2
according to lokar "yes you need the throttle cable and gas pedal too". I tried to install just the kick down and the bracket that bolts to the carb is in the way of the factory throttle rod and the bracket for the trans is in the way for the factory shifter rod aswell

When I bought my 66 mustang I didn't know the Kickdown rod wasn't connected. is there more parts for me to buy for the Kickdown to work than just the Lokar c4 kickdown cable?

Asked by: Billy B
Without knowing your Mustang, it's hard to say. This could be all you need, but if there's more disconnected, you could need more parts to get back working again.
