1968 Headers

If you're replacing your 1968 Mustang's exhaust system, then the exhaust manifold is a good place to start. Your exhaust manifold is the exhaust's first stop, and one of the easiest places to eliminate backpressure. Which headers you select will have a major impact on sound and performance.

Which Headers Are Right for You?

Long-tube, short-tube, mid-length, and tri-y headers all have slightly different properties. While you'll get the best performance from long-tube headers, they take up a lot of space underhood and aren't legal everywhere. Shorty headers offer many of the same benefits and take up less space. Classic Mustangs can also use tri-y headers which produce more mid-range torque.

When you're looking at creating a custom exhaust sound, headers are a key piece of the puzzle. Make sure that your headers will work with the mid-pipes you have your eye on and you've got a great start to a custom exhaust note.
