These blue ACCEL Super Coils are going to be a direct fit replacement for the factory ignition coils and they're going to increase spark energy by 15% for improved throttle response, fuel economy, and performance. They're sold as a set of four and are shock and vibration resistant and today we're going to be installing them in our 2016 Focus RS.
This is going to be without a doubt the quickest and easiest performance upgrade you can do to your Focus RS, and we're going to start off by removing the engine cover. With a seven millimeter socket, loosen this clamp on the intake hose, and this clamp as well. Loosen this bolt with an eight millimeter socket. Remove this grommet from the intake pipe, and then pop the hose out of this clip back here and then remove the pipe. Remove the plastic clip on the stub on the ignition coil.
Use an eight millimeter socket to remove the stub. Pull this white clip back away from the connector, like that, and then it pulls right off the coil. Pull the original coil out and replace it with your new ACCEL coil. Make sure it's seated properly, plug it back in and reinstall the stud. Put this clip back over it and repeat the process for the other three coils. Using an eight millimeter wrench for this one. This intake tube is a little bit in the way.
Reinstall the intake tube, and tighten up the two hose clamps. Now, you could stop right here. We'll reinstall the engine cover and your installation is finished.
