Vehicle Fitment

This product will fit the following Mustang years:

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needed some modification Changed to a borgeson steering box & used the stock Ford pump. However I have headers on my 69 Mustang 351W & the fluid line going to the steering box ends up too close to headers & the fluid over heats & over time the pump was damaged. I hoped this pump would have the line in a different location however that was not the case. But when I moved the bolt to the inner location on the bracket plate the line is now further from the header. I put the power steering line in a heat shield & got a slightly longer fan belt, problem solved! Note for Canadian's I got this item shipped via US mail to avoid brokerage fee courier usually charges however this time my item sat in customs for over 2 weeks! Wish there was a better way

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels like butter Originally I was using the stock ps pump which works ok, but since I already put in the boregson gearbox, I wanted the full effect. once I installed this pump it made a world of difference. I can easily turn my 1966 mustang with one finger. If I'm at a complete stop or parking and I need to turn, it's still like butter. Would highly recommend this Pump. Better yet it attaches to the block instead of a bracket/water pump combo. Had to buy a longer belt for this tho.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Power steering pump borgeson I just got this installed yesterday on a 1969 Mach 1. Seems well built (it’s metal not plastic) as it looks in the pictures. Hardware worked to get it mounted ok. Removed the stock brackets and bolted this to the head. Haven’t tested the pump out yet to see if it works well or not. ** I used a 9520 gates belt** ** borgeson pulley is about an inch smaller diameter than my stock ford pulley was. Also narrower grove holding the belt (pic #3). Hope this works ..... without excessive wear or the belt slipping off the pulley while running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Borgeson Saginaw Power Steering Pump The Borgeson Pump was fairly easy to install. The only issue I had was the original V belt was to long. Had to purchase a V belt 1" shorter than the original one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked out perfect I have a Classic Air Conditioning system on my car, the original pump was underneath it, I had to remove the belt to check the fluid level in the power steering pump. Now the pump is out in the open. I bought the pressure reducer kit directly from Borgeson and set it for 850 psi since my shop manual says the original system pressure should be between 700 and 900 psi. The pump is working perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great poduct Very impressed with the pump it was simple to fit and all the parts required were included. Delivery was very quick only 10 days from purchase to delivery to Australia. With air conditioning you need a longer belt & it is a little difficult to check the power steering level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great The pulleys didn't line up,had too shorten the stand offs and buy shorter bolts, other than that it works great,no leaks, power steering is smooth.

I have a 72 Mustang coupe that originally came with power steering and a 302 engine. The engine has since been replaced with a 289 from a 67 Mustang. Will this pump work for me? Will I need any special adapters or hoses?

My 1965 mustang w/ 289 does not have power steering. A mechanic said he has everything from a donor car except the pump. If I get this, do I need a bracket or does this pump come with it? I do have a/c installed

Asked by: mkIV
The pump comes with the bracket shown in the pic.

Is that a KEYWAY or PRESSFIT shaft/pulley? Im planning to covert to a SERPENTINE pulley system. Need to swap that pulley out.

Asked by: AFBenaza
It is a press fit.

I have 65 Mustang with 289, did not come with or has ever had power steering. Added Classic Auto Air AC. Next I want to add power rack and pinion steering with this pump. Will it fit, how many and what bolts are used to bolt the bracket too. Thanks

Asked by: Plateman
I would not suggest using this pump with a power steering rack. Use a pump that the rack and pinion manufacturer recommends.

I just ordered one of your power steering pumps but when they emailed me I realized it said conversion kit. I have a 66 Mustang Pony (289 V8) with A/C, will this pump work or should I cancel the order? The pump I ordered looks different than the original

Asked by: Tdawn870
This pump will still work for your application. If using the stock Ford hoses, you will need a hose adapter, part number HW3409.

I have a 1965 Mustang, 289 with an Eaton power steering pump. Is this a direct replacement for my pump?

Asked by: Peg Leg
You could use this pump but you will need to change the hoses. You will need to use adapter part number HW3409 when using stock ford style hoses.
