And unlike inferior brands that lose significant sound quality at higher volumes, ATAK is tuned like a graphic equalizer to shape and focus sound waves for optimum high-volume output. The Borla Attack Cat Backs were one of our more popular systems for the 2015 Mustang GT. You get a really aggressive sound, but if you want to on the highway it's real tame with no drone whatsoever. Many of you have asked what the attack's going to sound like in axle back form. Will the factor resonator drown out the attack, or will it still have a nice aggressive sound? Well today we're going to answer that question by installing the Borla Tack axle back on my 2015 Mustang GT.

The attack is the most aggressive sounding muffler that Borla offers. "Attack" is an acronym standing for Acoustically Tuned Applied Kinetics. Basically what it means is it's got a loud aggressive sound when you want it to, but when you're cruised on the highway it's nice and tame with no drone. Just like the Cat Back system, these are available in your choice of a four inch polished or a four inch black tip. For this installation we'll need a lift or a jack-in jack stands, ½” ratchet, 15 mm socket, tape measure, marker, Sawzall, and safety glasses.

The Bola axle basket install behind the axle by cutting the same way as the Ford raising route and several other systems going to work. Because it's behind the axle it's going to fit your fastback or convertible. Just follow the curve until it ends. It's going to measure over two inches from the end of the curve, mark and cut. Once it's cut now, slide it off the hanger. Once you have it cut, simply put the clamp on the muffler. Start by putting the muffler up in the rear hangar. Basically push it into the hangar until it lines up with the pipe, and then slide it over. Tighten it down, repeat the process on the other side.

Now let's see how our Borla Attack Axle Back sounds. Definitely has that nice aggressive sound we've come to know from the attack, just not as much volume as the Cat Back version. The Attack Axle Back, the first thing you notice when you drive is it it's going to be quieter than the Cat Back version, which we expect. You're keeping the resonator in so it's going to have it, but the sound tone is very similar. It almost sounds, it's a little bit deeper sounding to be honest with you than the Cat Back version. It has a nice aggressive tone, but then again you put it, just like all the Borla systems, sixth gear 60 miles an hour, nothing. No drone, you don't even know it's back there.

Borla systems are tough to beat if you want something where you can be loud when you want to be loud but you want to make it disappear when you're on the highway. Now just like other Axle Back systems, you could add one of our H pipes to this and it would totally change, really wake it up. It's really hard to pick a favorite Axle Back exhaust for the '15, but I'd have to say the Borla Attack would definitely be involved in the conversation. It's got that nice aggressive attack tone when you get on it, but it's nice and quiet on the highway with no drone whatsoever. Installation's pretty straightforward, it'll take you less than an hour. You'll be back on the road in no time.
