This premium 22-gallon fuel tank conversion kit from CJ Classics allows for six extra gallons of fuel, which is almost 40 percent more capacity than the factory 16-gallon fuel tank. Protected by a rust- and corrosion-resistant coating, this 22-gallon tank is a direct replacement unit with the original 32-5/8" x 24-1/2" x 9-3/4" measurements that will mount using the factory mounting locations.

Specific to the 22-gallon fuel tank, the fuel tank sending unit provides an accurate fuel level gauge operation. The fuel sending unit features a 3/8" outlet tube and includes a plastic float, O-ring gasket, resistor, mounting plate and filter.

Once you install the enlarged fuel tank, you will need to install the conversion kit's custom fuel filler pipe, designed to be a direct bolt-on replacement that lines up perfectly with the fuel tank neck. The brand new, high-quality fuel filler pipe is made from thicker steel compared to the original filler pipe found in the 1965 and 1966 Mustangs. It features the correct notch for the gas cap seal to let air in and is designed so that the gas cap fits tight.

Please Note: Molded trunk mats will not properly fit into the molded trunk mat hole after the 22-gallon fuel tank conversion due to the larger size.
