Brakes

From the factory, the brake set-up on the Focus RS is impressive. The stock front calipers are a nice set of four-piston Brembos. Even die-hard track enthusiasts will probably leave those as-is. However, the brake rotors and pads can be upgraded for better performance. These are useful mods, especially if you’ll be taking your RS to the track.

For upgraded brake rotors, check out the options from Raybestos. They’ll give your RS better stopping power and reduce high-temperature warping. Cooler brakes can cut down on wheel vibrations and help you perform better at the track. Raybestos follows strict OEM standards to provide consistent strength, plate thickness, and hardness. Their brakes will also last longer and rust less.

Serious drifters can pick up Ford Performance’s drift stick. This parking brake replacement lets you enter a controlled slide by locking up the rear wheels. Developed in conjunction with Ken Block, it’s tailor-made for the Focus RS. It’s even warranty-friendly. For those in the drift scene, this is a must-have.

After upgrading your brakes, go for a new set of wheels and tires. Aftermarket wheels can add “lightness” and change up your style. Performance tires ensure you’re getting the grip and handling you need on the track or autocross course.
