This heavy-duty spring will allow you to open and close your classic pony's metal hood with ease, and it will easily install without any special tools.

We’re here with a replacement hood hinge spring fitting your 1965 through 1970 Mustang. This hood hinge spring is designed for the stock steel hood found in your 1965 through 1970 Mustang. The hood hinge spring is going to mount to the hood hinge itself and assist in lifting the hood up and holding the hood open when it's in the up position. These hood hinge springs are sold individually and your Mustang will require two. A light weight spring for fiberglass hoods is also available at cjponyparts.com.

Vehicle Fitment

This product will fit the following Mustang years:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hood spring Apears to be a good quality part. Nice paint finish. Used the fan belt trick to install and it worked like a charm. (Prop hood open, hook spring on rear anchor then place fan belt on from hook and pull on fan belt to extend the spring. Go around the side of the hinge and voila).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong Spring!! Good strong springs to replace the original springs. Hood is strong and definitely not a safety issue now for me or others as they look up under the hood.

Need to order hood spring for 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe. You recommended not using this spring (Item # HDHS1), on Shelby w/Fiberglass Hood. Although I don't have a Shelby, I have an aftermarket fiberglass hood. Will this spring damage my hood?

Asked by: Erickson
Correct - you want CJ part # HDHS3. This won't necessarily damage your hood, but you will have a great deal of difficulty closing it, since the springs are too strong and meant for the heavier metal hoods.
