Modern Driveline Cable Clutch Conversion Kit for 1965-1966 Mustangs.

Looking to replace your worn out transmission in your classic 1965-1966 Mustang? Modern Driveline's clutch cable kit will convert your old mechanical linkage and provide you with a modern cable clutch. This kit will fit any T-5, T-45, TR3650, T-56 or Tremec transmission when installed in your classic 1965-1966 Mustang.

Any of these late model transmissions can be swapped into your Mustang as long as a cable compatible bellhousing or scatter shield is used. This kit includes a heavy duty lined clutch cable, providing you a smoother clutch pedal. In this kit you will have the ability to finely tune the clutch cable with ease. The stock clutch pedal is reused with an adjustable bracket. Modern Driveline even designed the system to be compatible with both manual and most power brake boosters.

A clutch cable conversion is much easier to install than a hydraulic system and also requires less maintenance. This kit will need some drilling to allow the clutch cable to go through the firewall. Modern Driveline created the clutch cable conversion to be a bolt-on upgrade. The custom length cable clears most headers and shock towers.

Kit Includes:
- Clutch Cable
- Clutch Brackets
- Mounting Hardware
- Detailed Installation Instructions

Please Note: This Modern Driveline Cable Clutch Conversion Kit is designed to work on manual brakes and for power brakes that are using the original style booster. This Modern Driveline Kit may not work with aftermarket boosters as they might interfere with the mounts that come through the firewall.

This clutch cable conversion kit makes installing a late model Mustang 5-speed or 6-speed transmission into your classic 1965-1966 Mustang a whole lot easier! Give your Mustang a much smoother alternative to your stock mechanical linkage with this heavy-duty lined cable.

Modern Driveline was a company that was created out of a need, a need for classic Mustangs and other automobiles to be equipped with modern transmission and driveline equipment that would make driving a classic Mustang a more enjoyable experience for the non-performance driver. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Replacement I used this to replace a hydraulic clutch on my 1965 Mustang with a T5 because the fire wall was beginning to flex around the clutch push rod. The directions were easy to follow and the product performs very nice. There is also a section of video clip available on the T5 replacement video.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works good on stock manifolds not with headers If you have headers on your vehicle clutch cable clearance is an issue ! Kit worked excellent with stock manifolds. I installed Scott Drake Tri Y headers the issue then became apparent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice kit i was really impressed with the ease of install i had to bleed the brakes anyway so the master cylinder was no big but i found it was easier to loosen the pedal assembly to worm the pedal bracket in to bolt it on and the body plug was to large for the hole in the firewall but no big there and the extra bolt and clamp are for oil pan i found out

I am installing a 331 with a Tremec TKO in a 1964 Falcon SD will this set-up work in this application. How long is the cable? So that I consider the routing.

Asked by: thebatt
This kit will fit any T-5, T-45, TR3650, T-56 or Tremec transmission when installed in your classic 1965-1966 Mustang. Not sure if it will fit a falcon.

Is this an easy put together and how does the cable attach to the release lever and I do have the T-5 in my 66

Asked by: BIGT 5855
This is a moderately difficult to install, this attaches to the lever by a threaded stud that is part of the cable.Tthe instructions can be found below the product description on the parts page.

Im about to update my 65 mustang from 289 and C4 to a 5.0 and T5. Im in Australia and have converted my car from left to right hand drive. Is this cable going to be long enough given the clutch pedal will be on the other side of the car?

Asked by: Mort289
No, it wont be long enough, you may want to consider a hydraulic clutch kit and use a longer hose.

Are there any clutch cable conversion kits for 1964 Ford Fairlanes with a original 4 speed transmission and a 1966 ford 289 engine with an 11 inch clutch?

Asked by: Fordsof64
We don't typically sell parts for Fairlanes, but we may have a note on a few parts that we have happened to test on a Fairlane. if there's no note, we simply don't know whether it would fit.

I have a 1966 mustang with tremec 5 speed.  I assume it has original bell housing. Will this work? If not what kit will work best? How can I tell if I have original bell housing?

Asked by: raydaboz
You should be OK with this part. It works with any cable compatible bellhousing.

hello! does that kit fit original bellhousing and fork or newwer bell housing only

Asked by: seppo
It's meant for modern transmissions and drivelines, so it won't work on your original parts.
