This TMI Standard Full Length Center Console is available for Mustangs with automatic and standard transmissions. This is a great part to add for 1967-1968 Mustangs that were not equipped with a center console from the factory.
High-quality French-seam stitching creates a stronghold and a clean modern look throughout the console. A plush fold-back armrest/console pad includes a map pocket, hidden console pad hinge and storage compartment underneath. Shown here is a '64-'66 deluxe console. All deluxe consoles will have this chrome trim going around the edges here. The '65 -'66 will be two-tone to match the Pony interior. The '67-'68 will all be solid colors to match your deluxe interior. All of TMI's full-length consoles have the exact same features, in the front a nice: deep storage pocket that can be removed. You can install a doubled-in stereo. They have a cutout that will fit both a manual or automatic shifter, a pair of deep cup holders, and in the back a large storage bin with a pocket in the back for a map and removable storage.
The console fits really tight to our transmission tunnel as well, as under the dash, so to install it, it's going to require us to remove our shifter. If you have an automatic, there's going to be a retaining bolt in the back of the T handle. Remove the T handle first, then you remove the bolt for the handle. In the case of our 3-speed, there's only two 1/2" bolts to hold the shifter to the transmission, that we're going to need to remove to remove our shifter. You also want to check under the dash in this area here to make sure there are no bolts or ground sticking out that could damage the console when you install it.
We'll slide our boot up out of the way. We're going to push it forward to access the rear bolt. Get it down into place between the seats. Simply slide it forward. It is a tight fit, like I said, under the dash. Give it a couple bumps, get it lined up with our shifter opening. We're going to reinstall our shifter. And our installation's finished.
Our TMI full-length console looks great and gives us all the amenities you'd find in a modern console. Installation is straightforward, and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. You'll be back on the road in no time.
