The main job of the Automatic Transmission Filter and Gasket Kit is to protect the inner transmission components from metal particles or other debris that is in the transmission oil pan. The Transmission Filter gets pressed into the valve body and stays secure due to the O-ring that is provided in this kit. Since you have to remove the transmission oil pan on your Mustang, a new neoprene gasket is included. This seals the transmission, eliminating fluid from leaking out.
