These new lights are brighter and should be used with new tailight housings to achieve a perfect light balance. Corroded housings don't achieve a balance light that reflects outwards,and not making brighter light. Also, changing the lenses will give clear lighting from those old scratch lenses. But if your housings are 5-10 years old, then you could leave them by determining their condition if they need to be changed.
