Putting the MUSTANG on the side next to the horse emblem on a 66 mustang, tried the 1/8" running horse tube nuts but they were too big - will not hold the Mustang. Are these smaller than 1/8" and are they made for holding the MUSTANG emblem?
Yes, these are the ones you want.

will these work on the trunk lid for the MUSTANG letters for a 68
These are pin-on style emblems, so they would likely work, but you'd have to drill new holes in your trunk lid.

By Bill Tumas: We’re here with a set of tube nuts fitting your 1965 through 1970 Mustang. The tube nuts are a very small part that serve a very important purpose on your classic Mustang. If you just redid your body work or had the car painted, or ready to install your emblems, the tube nuts are required to mount the emblems properly. This set of 4 replacement tube nuts work for either mounting your fender emblems or your 4 hood letters on your '65-'70 Mustang. These are sold as a set of 4. Other sizes are also available.
