Product Description

Black Smooth Decklid Panel for 2010-2014 Mustangs.

Provide your 2010-2014 Mustang with some unique custom styling by adding this Black Smooth Decklid Panel. This taillight panel, also known as the "Wart Removal Kit," eliminates the faux gas cap on your Mustang's rear decklid. It will give your S197 a smooth, clean look.

Features and Benefits:
- Eliminates Faux Gas Cap on the Taillight Panel
- Replaces Factory Panel on 2013-2014 Mustangs
- Also Known As The "Wart Remover Kit"
- Wraps Around Side of The Trunk Lid to Conceal Body Color
- Embossed Area for Installation of Aftermarket Emblem
- Includes Sealant Tape

Unlike other panels on the market, this one wraps around the side of the trunk lid to conceal the body color. Sealant tape is supplied for covering the holes from the OE panel which will be behind the new panel. It has an embossed area indicating the proper drilling location for aftermarket emblems. The Decklid Panel is a factory replacement for 2013-2014 Mustangs with the correct color and finish to match the OE panel.

Tech Tip: 2015+ Aftermarket GT Emblems Include: Factory Paint Colors (EMT44-V), Gloss Black (EMT41), Matte Black (EMT42). 2015+ Aftermarket Running Pony Emblems Include: Factory Paint Colors (EMT43-V), Gloss Black (EMT39), Matte Black (EMT40).

Please Note: Installing this decklid panel requires cutting out the "bump" in the trunk lid that the faux gas cap attaches to.

Ford's always done a really good job of carrying over classic styling cues to the modern Mustangs. Some things like the tribar tail lights have always been a huge hit, other things though, like the fake gas cap on the 2010 through 2014 Mustang kind of miss the mark. If you'd like a much cleaner look for your 2010 through 2014 Mustang, today we're going to show you how to install this smooth decklid panel.

This decklid panel is made of ABS plastic, so there's no worries about rust or anything like that with it, and it's going to be fairly easy to install, but will require some cutting. This is going to fit all 2010 through 2014 Mustangs, and is going to be held on by double stick tape.

Well the smooth look is probably going to be preferred by most people. If you like the look of an emblem, it actually has embossments on the back here that can be drilled out and you can install any of the 2015 up Mustang emblems.

For this installation, you need T-15 Torx bit, Dremel with a cutting wheel, and safety glasses.

We'll begin the installation by opening the trunk. We have to remove the original panel. To do that, we're going to start by removing these two screws, one here and one here.

Now you want to pull the panel off. There'll be clips and some adhesive on there. This one has been off before, so it'll come off a little bit easier. All right, with the factory panel off, now we're just going to clean the area here. Going to put some alcohol on it later, but for now just get it cleaned up. 'Cause the next process is going to be to cut out this piece here.

You can cut the panel out with an air saw, Dremel tool, even if you have a large hole saw, anything that can get around the edge here. Before we do that, we're going to put this blanket down just to protect the area, 'cause no matter what you cut it with, you're going to get some sparks.

What you'll want to do is basically trace this edge here so you can get it as flat as possible.

Now we're going to use some solvent, and again, just clean the area here. We're going to hit it with some alcohol next to make sure everything sticks. Now the kit includes covers for all these factory holes here, plus the one we opened up. So grab the alcohol pad, let's clean this area then. Make sure when you install these you're an inch away from all the edges, 'cause that's where the panel's going to stick on.

All right, now we're just going to give it one more wipe with some alcohol here around the edge. This is where the tape's actually going to stick. We're going to peel back all the red backing on the double stick tape. You want to line it up with the corners. Push evenly across the panel to seat the tape.

The smooth decklid panel really cleans up the back of this 2013 GT. The installation isn't bad, the cutting is a little intimidating, but Dremel actually makes a better cutoff wheel called an EZ406, so it'll do a much better job than the one I even used. Overall though, the installation will take you about an hour, so you'll be back on the road in no time.
