Today, we'll take a look at a product line that's very popular in our restoration department, Dynamat. Dynamat has been around for years and is very popular in the car audio market, built in with sound-deadening capabilities. By installing it in a vehicle, it increases the quality of the stereo while drowning out exterior noise.
This translates very well to a restoration project where you may want to make a classic car have more of the interior feel of the modern car by keeping the road noise out and keeping the sound in. Dynamat can be installed with any non-visible metal surface inside your vehicle.
Floors are the most common place to use it due to road noise, but it can also be installed in doors, kick panels, even your roof, trunk, or hood to keep sound at a minimum. Installation is very straightforward. The back of the Dynamat is adhesive. You simply cut it, put it into place, use a roller to adhere it, and you're finished.
The Dynamat Xtreme is the most popular Dynamat we offer. It's available in two different ways. You can purchase it as a bulk kit, which includes 36 square feet that you can mount wherever you want to use it. We also carry vehicle-specific kits for the floor, trunk, and doors of your '64 through '73 Mustang.
Dynamat Xtreme is the original and most commonly used Dynamat. Dynatape can be used to tape the seams of your Xtreme when installing in your vehicle. Dynaliner is available in three different thicknesses and mounts on top of the Xtreme for additional installation. Dynapad is an oil and water resistant pad that can be installed on top of the Dynamat to replace your carpet padding. They also offer a hood liner to insulate your hood.
Let's take a closer look at the complete floor kit for your '64 through '73 Mustang. This is our most popular product that we sell from Dynamat. The kit covers all the pieces you need to cover the floor of your vehicle. When you open the packaging up, it gives you detailed instructions showing where individual piece is going to go. Pieces are all cut and formed to fit specific parts of your floor pan.
Let's go take a look at our '67 Mustang and we'll mock up the installation for you. Here's a piece for the rear floor section, two pieces for your door sill, a piece for under your seat, a front floor pan piece, and also a toe board firewall extension as well.
It will cover both sides of the vehicle and is precut for all the shape of the floor. The installation of Dynamat is going to require to remove the interior from your vehicle. It's a good time to replace worn-out carpet, kick panels, or door sills since they have to be removed anyway. Installation should take roughly five to six hours so you'll be back on the road in no time.
