Your 1967 or 1968 Mustang's original filler neck needs to be replaced as it will no longer work with the new 22-gallon tank. This new Fuel Filler Pipe is a direct bolt-on replacement that lines up perfectly with the neck on the 1970 Mustang's 22-gallon fuel tank. The brand new, high quality Fuel Filler Pipe has a thicker steel construction compared to the original filler pipe found in the 1967 and 1968 Mustangs. It features the correct notch for the gas cap seal to let air in and is designed so that the gas cap fits tight.
This Fuel Filler Pipe is improved in basically every way over an original filler neck, but it still looks like an NOS part. Modifications are not required to upgrade! One of the drawbacks has always been the fuel filler pipe. The factory fuel filler pipe won't fit properly because this tank is obviously a lot taller and so we offer these filler pipes here. This is for your '64 through '66 and this will be for your '67 through '68, specifically designed to fit the 22-gallon tank when installing it in your early Mustang. These fuel filler pipes are sold separately. We do offer them in kit form which gives you the tank, the filler pipe, and the setting unit, basically everything you need to convert your '64 through '68 to a 22-gallon tank.
