The 4-barrel carburetor in your 1965 or 1966 Mustang will benefit from a 22-gallon fuel tank compared to 16-gallon stock tanks. Converting to a higher capacity is simple thanks to the factory-correct 32-5/8" x 24-1/2" x 9-3/4" measurement.

The focal point of this conversion kit is of course the 22 Gallon Fuel Tank, which comes with a special rust and corrosion-resistant coating and drain plug. This conversion kit also comes with a Fuel Tank Sending Unit specific for the 22-gallon fuel tank allowing for accurate fuel level gauge operation. The Fuel Tank Sending Unit features a durable steel construction with a 3/8" outlet tube and uses a brass float.

Your 1965 or 1966 Mustang's original filler neck will no longer work with the new 22-gallon tank and must be replaced, which is why a custom Fuel Filler Pipe will bolt directly onto the neck of your 1970 Mustang's 22-gallon fuel tank. The brand new, high-quality Fuel Filler Pipe is made from thicker steel compared to the original filler pipe found in the 1965 and 1966 Mustangs. It features the correct notch for the gas cap seal to let air in and is designed so that the gas cap fits tight. Connecting the custom Fuel Filler Pipe to the new 22-Gallon Fuel Tank, is a durable, 4" long Fuel Tank Filler Hose that is made from flexible, hard rubber.

Please Note: Molded trunk mats will no longer fit properly when a 22-Gallon Fuel Tank Conversion Kit is used because the larger fuel tank will eliminate the hole that the molded trunk mats fit into.
