These trim levels are situated right next to each other in Ford's price hierarchy and have very similar options. However, there are a few key differences that could be deal breakers for certain prospective buyers.

Bronco Black Diamond
Adventure Off-Roading
The Black Diamond trim comes ready to take on some pretty serious trails right from the dealership.
7 G.O.A.T modes, front and rear steel bumpers, heavy-duty skid plates, and a locking rear diff are all awesome off-road features. A lot of people argue that if you plan on doing heavy off-roading, this is the lowest trim you should consider.
That's honestly a pretty sensible opinion. The vinyl seats and washout interior are perfect for getting dirty (and clean), and the cost of adding that off-road tech is greater than the added cost to get this trim from the get-go.
While some of the more premium trims offer even more off-road tech, this is already perfect for riding over tough terrain. Outfit it with a Sasquatch package for even more off-road prowess.
If you're really serious about off-roading, this is the trim to start at.
Bronco Outer Banks
Off-Roading in Style
Do you like off-roading but also like comfort? Are you the type of person who likes to bring a cooler full of steak and beer with you on your camping trips? Then you're going to want to consider the Outer Banks trim.
Some of the Outer Banks' luxury items are appearance upgrades. Body-color fender flares and signature LED headlights and taillights make this trim look nice. But you can also opt for a 12” SYNC 4 infotainment screen and a B&O sound system.
While most upgrades for the Bronco are a la carte, the 10-speed automatic transmission comes standard with this one. I mean, you can't select a new playlist and shift, right? If you're looking for a trim that you could take the family on vacation with (maybe to the Outer Banks?) and have everyone feel comfortable, this is a great trim option
Bronco Black Diamond vs Outer Banks: Which Is Right For You?
These two trims are pretty directly comparable because they share many of the same features. The Black Diamond is considered by many to be the lowest trim serious off-roaders should look at. The option for a manual is a potentially important option for people looking to fully control their Bronco on the trail. The Black Diamond is aimed at enthusiasts who want room to grow into their Bronco, but also want a capable off-roader off the showroom floor.
Whereas the Black Diamond gives you a more stripped back, authentic off-roader feel, the Outer Banks gives you many of the creature comforts found in modern day cars. The leather seats and the 12" SYNC 4 display are a marked improvement over the Black Diamond trim level.
None of this is to say that the Outer Banks can't be taken on the trails. You still get many of the same important off-roading specific features that the Black Diamond provides.
