One of the first upgrades made to most classic Mustangs is to install a larger radiator to improve cooling. The problem with that simple upgrade is that most stock fan spacers are too long to accommodate the new, thicker radiator. Since used short fan spacers are very hard to come by, most previous pony owners have had to go with an aftermarket spacer that does not resemble the original spacer.
