As you upgrade the engine in your Mustang, it is imperative that the other components also get upgraded to be able to handle the additional power. This includes components like the suspension, transmission and more. To help upgrade your transmission, this SPEC clutch kit is for bolt on naturally aspirated and mildly modified forced induction engines. The Stage 1 kit will provide you with stock-like daily drivability and very good wear characteristics. This clutch is best suited to Mustangs that see daily driver duty and occasional track use, since it offers the friendliest pedal feel.

I read on another site that you had to replace the flywheel with a spec flywheel. Is that correct? Or can you just resurface the stock flywheel?

I recently had an exedy stage 1 kit installed . There is a lot of " chatter " and unwanted drivetrain noise . Is this typical with all aftermarket race style clutches and would the spec clutch kit have similar increased chatter or increased noise ?

Some clutch chatter is normal but excessive chatter can be caused by a flywheel with excessive run out or a worn input shaft or improperly torqued pressure plate.

What are the major differences in driveability between this and the stock unit? Will the clutch feel lighter, heavier, or similar? Will it engage smoother?

The SPEC Stage 1 clutches are designed to retain a stock-like pedal feel and drive-ability. It will be almost identical to how the original clutch felt when new. The biggest difference is the materials used in construction of this are able to withstand increased power and torque levels.
