Vortech Supercharger Black 20th Anniversary Edition System GT 2011-2014 is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It Delivers I have purchased a Vortech 4FQ218-024L kit for my car (2014 Mustang GT/CS) The install went pretty smooth, took my buddy and I about 20-24 hours to finish (I call BS on their rated 8-10 hours, maybe if you have a garage or something it's possible) Fast forward to one day later, guess what? the belt shredded 2 ribs out of the 6. So my buddy and I take a look and inspect to determine where the issue is, surprise surprise, miss-alignment issue. So I went out to buy another belt temporarily (to get the alignment issue fixed before putting an expensive belt). The specs of the new belt I got had an effective length of 103.9" as opposed to Vortech's 103.3". Had to buy another smooth idler pulley because the one from Vortech got a bit messed up (usable, but not risking it). So the alignment issue happened to be from that exact smooth idler pulley. The idler pulley was a bit more inwards (towards the engine) than the rest, causing one rib of the belt NOT sitting on the idler pulley, hence the shredding action. For the past couple of weeks, there is no sign of movement from the belt and it sits perfectly on the idler pulley with a little extra room on both ends of the idler pulley. So the main issue here was actually the spacers for the brackets provided. I literally had to use washers to get the unit to line up with the rest of the components so I would not have another belt incident. I didn't even bother buying another belt from Vortech, their price does not justify the belt. I ended up using a goodyear gatorback belt (which I used to replace that cheap temporary belt I had). Now don't get me wrong, I've contacted Vortech about the belt and they said they will forward it to the marketing department to get a quote, never happened :) I'm debating with myself right now of weather I should tell them about the alignment issues or if it is worth it. I'm not expecting a reply to be honest. Let's talk about the tune, it's complete garbage. I mean the car stalls like crazy and rpm dips so much. If anything, its just a placebo tune. I ended up getting tuned from LundRacing remotely. Day and night difference (for the same octane requirement,,, 91), never stalled and rpm never dipped. Making right now 8 psi at redline. if i go to 7500 then i get 9psi, but let's not push it that much :P The fitment is rather tight, but the end result in terms of looks its amazing. I Think I will replace the OEM radiator fan with 2 slim fans on either side (total 4). Not sure if I left anything out, but this is my experience. I know it's long and not pretty.

I would like to get the Vortech supercharger for my 2013 boss Mustang   Tuner that come with it , will it allow me to put a cold air intake on it

Asked by: 321boss
You would need a custom tune for that, but the tuner will allow you upload a tune once you get one from a reputable calibrator. The tune that is included is designed to be used with the factory airbox.
