This JLT series II intake is going to fit your 2011 through 2014 Mustang GT, and your 2012 to 2013 Boss 302. Now JLT has offered an intake for the Coyote engine since pretty much the very beginning. This Series II though, is just taking it one step further.
Now this particular kit here is going to have some changes, going to provide a little bit better fit and finish. But the biggest difference is the larger air tube. It's going to let more air in for more horsepower. Now because of the size difference of the air tube versus your stock intake, you will need a tune when running this kit.
As usual, JLT provides everything necessary for installation, including the molded air tube, this massive, reusable air filter, the air box, and again, all necessary hardware for installation.
For this installation need a 1/4" ratchet, 8mm socket, 10 mm socket, 6" extension, Phillips screwdriver, and a T-20 Torx bit.
We'll begin installation by removing the factory cover. Simply pull up on the corners and it'll pop right off.
Now this car already has a sound tube delete, but if you don't, you can disconnect the sound tube right here. You can keep it if you'd like, with the JLT, or you can remove it. I would suggest removing it, but that's entirely up to you. Disconnect this line here next. Pull this little red tab out. Disconnect our mass air sensor, now grab your ratchet. Loosen the clamp at the engine. You want to remove the screw over here by the fender. And disconnect from the inlet, and remove as one assembly.
You will need four things from your factory intake. You'll need this grommet here, these two mounting grommets down here, and the mass air sensor itself. Okay, we can put this aside. Alright then, grab your JLT air box, we'll transfer everything over. Okay, grab the factory mass air sensor, the supplied gasket and the supplied hardware. It'll actually only line up one way. Alright, going for the air box now. Grab the two grommets and take out the factory one, put them down here, and put the air box into place. Tighten it down with the original bolt.
Before we install the air tube, I want to talk about this here. Now if you have the sound symposer and want to keep it, it's going to go right here. If not, JLT actually provides a delete, just pop that over there and seal that off. There's also an extra fitting right here. This fitting is for your automatic car. Now if you have a manual trans, like what we have, it goes on as is. If you have an automatic then you have an additional port, you have to actually drill this out, install this with a grommet.
Alright, to get the air tube ready for installation you install the filter, and install the coupler. You will notice there's two couplers in the box, one with a JLT logo, it's going to be for your GT with a stock throttle body. If you have a Boss 302, or a large aftermarket throttle body, JLT provides an extra coupler to make sure it fits properly. Alright, connect the fittings in the passenger side valve cover. You want to fish the mass air harness underneath. Lock that in place. You're going to reinstall your engine cover, and your installation is almost finished. Now I said almost finished for two reasons, one is this piece here. Now if you have a 2013 through 2014 GT, or 2013 Boss 302, you're going to have a vent here that's going to mount in the hood. Now to keep water from going through that vent and landing right on the filter, you install this in the vent.
The second thing, like I mentioned earlier, this will require a tune. So while it looks great, it's not quite ready to operate. You will need a tune to work with this. Now here at CJ's we carry the SCT tuners, that'll work perfectly with your JLT intake.
Now as far as the installation goes, this install is less than an hour, be back on the road in no time.
