Maximum Motorsports Caster Camber Plates for 2005-2014 Mustangs with Eibach Multi-Pro R1/R2 Suspension Set Ups.

This set of caster camber plates is specifically for use with Eibach's Multi-Pro R1 and R2 systems. Spacers, thrust bearings and upper spring perches are included to fit the 2-1/2" inside diameter springs used to with the Eibach Multi-Pro R1 and R2 struts.

Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates feature a black powdercoat finish for great looks and long lasting protection, as well as providing independent adjustment of camber and caster. Caster and camber are easily adjusted at the top of the strut tower.

Teflon lined spherical bearing mounts eliminate deflection and precisely locates the strut shaft, while still allowing the articulation required for steering and suspension movement. Bill: We have Jack from Maximum Motorsports in our studio today. He brought this killer display with him. Jack handles high level tech support as well as works with the engineers. He's going to tell us about some of the products they make for your Mustang.

Jack, tell us a little bit about caster camber plates. We sell a lot of them especially when people are lowering their cars but explain why you want something like this and tell us about your particular product.

Jack: Okay, caster camber plates are very important for performance Mustang use. They enable you to align the front suspension with geometry that's more optimized for handling. For instance, if you go around corners faster, you need the tire to have more negative camber which means tilted inwards. To do that, you need a camber plate so that you can move the strut inwards.

Bill: Especially when you lower your car. You're actually adjusting the camber simply by lowering it. You want to make sure you can get it proper.

Jack: Exactly.

Bill: The factory parts won't work in those cases to get it correct.

Jack: In a lot of cases they won't work. In addition, you want to add positive caster of the alignment, the stock '79 Mustang for instance, has around one degree of positive caster. That gives a very poor steering feel at high speeds on the freeway and corners. The steering just kind of wanders.

Bill: It kind of vague feel.

Jack: Vague feel. When you turn a corner and release the wheel, it doesn't return to center.

Bill: OK.

Jack: On a Fox Mustang you'd want say four to six degrees of positive caster. That will give the car much better high speed feel, it won't be as vague, it'll have better cornering grip in tight, low-speed corners for instance.

Bill: How much of adjustment do you get out of your caster and camber plates?

Jack: It depends on the particular model for the particular year and the chase to some degree. Typically the camber plate will allow as much adjustment as the car does because the hole in the strut tower limits how far the strut shaft can move.

Bill: OK. A product like this is available for all '79 through '14's, correct?

Jack: Correct.

Bill: You have two different versions of this available?

Jack: Well from '79 to '89 we have one version. From '90 to '93 we have a different version because the strut towers are actually different.

Bill: OK.

Jack: Then from '94 to '04 we have a different version and then for S1 '97 chases, from 2005 up we have two versions.

Bill: These are available in black and chrome, I believe as well?

Jack: Black, powder coat or chrome plated.

Bill: Caster and camber adjustments are something obviously best left to a professional, but as far as installing, is this something you can pretty much do yourself in your garage?

Jack: Yeah, basic hand tools are all that are required. Is you have a SN95 Mustang you're going to need a drill and a drill bit to drill the fourth hole in the camber caster plate.

Bill: OK.

Jack: You may need, depending on what strut model you have, you may need an impact wrench to get this nut off the strut.

Bill: OK, but it's safe to install them and then take it to an alignment shop and have them do the actual adjustments for you.

Jack: Absolutely, yes.

Bill: Jack, we appreciate you coming out today. Thank you for telling us about your products. If you're looking for a high performance suspension for your late model Mustang, make sure you check out our selection of products from Maximum Motorsports.
