Bill: I'm here with Angel from Pedders Suspension. Now Angel, on our 2005 GT, we've done your shocks, your struts, your springs. Let's finish off with some sway bars. Tell us about this kit here.

Angel: Yeah. The front bar here that we're installing today is a 34 mil. bar that has three points of adjustment and utilizes the stock end links. The rear bar's a 24 mil. bar, fixed adjustment that utilizes these end links as an option.

Bill: Okay, so it'll work with the stock ones if you wanted to.

Angel: If you'd like to, yeah.

Bill: Okay. What's the application for this. Is it all 2005 through 2014?

Angel: 2005 to 2014. Any Mustang, especially with the fitment of these links. You can fit it to any vehicle.

Bill: Okay and we offer this here at CJ's a couple different ways. You can buy the front by itself, the rear by itself, or you can buy the whole kit, which will include the end links, which we're gonna install on this 2005 GT.

For this installation, a lift or a jack and jack stands, 3/8 ratchet, 5/16 socket, 13 millimeter socket, 15 millimeter wrench (Shorty preferred), and an 19 millimeter wrench.

So Angel's gonna handle the wrenching. I'm gonna explain the process to you. It's pretty simple. What you do is basically remove the end link from the bar at the bottom on both sides. Then there's two brackets on radiator support on each side on both ends. Sway bar comes right out the bottom. Easy way to do this is use a ratchet from the front and then put a wrench on it.

While Angel's removing the sway bar end link on the other side, I'm gonna start with the brackets here, the nut on top, nut on bottom.

Slide off the studs and lower it down the front.

Angel: All right. Just a brief moment to sort of explain how these adjustments work. Typically, we recommend starting with the middle hole and then you can then move to the outer hole or the inner hole. Now with this being a front bar, if you move to the outer hole, that will reduce the roll stiffness. If you move to the inner hole, that will increase it. So in other words, on the front of the car, if you go to the inner hole, that's going to resist roll in that direction more to make it under steer more. If this were a rear bar, that would increase its propensity to oversteer. So we usually recommend starting in the middle and then you can tune it from there based on your own style and your preferences. All right. Just want to take the time to point out that these bars are completely CNC machine. So not only are they rolled that way, but the lateral length, end links, all that's done by CNC.

So it ensures an exact fit every time, but I want to take a moment and just show how we go about lubing these bushings and installing those. So we want to put a liberal amount in there, pass it through all the grooves and this is a messy job. That just helps ensure that you don't get any squeaks or any noises down the road.

Now we're also gonna apply a bit of the same lubricant to the exterior here where the bracket lies, again, to just avoid any potential for rubbing noises or anything like that.

Bill: We're gonna put the bar up into place now. Make sure this part is facing downward and then the arms go over the control arms towards the end links before we put it on the brackets.

Okay. Now you can tighten them down.

All right. Now we can reinstall the sway bar. Again, we're gonna start with the middle setting. Put it through, reattach the original hardware.

Now we'll repeat the process on the other side and move onto the rear sway bar.

Process for the rear, basically the same idea. You're gonna remove the brackets here form the shock mount and then unbolt it here at the frame and remove it.

Now remove the end links from the chasse.

Angel: All right. Now we're going to add some lube to the inner part of these rear end links so that we can press the bushings in.

All right. Now we can slide these into place.

All right. Now that we've lubed up the inner brace, we're gonna open up the clamshell and put it on the bar and then put the bracket back into place.

Bill: Now we'll put the new bar up into place. We're gonna start with the end links. We're gonna put the bolts through these just to basically hang it up.

All right. Now we can swing the rear sway bar up into place and bolt it down with the original hardware.

Tighten up both sides and your installation is finished.

Angel, thanks again for coming out and helping us redo the suspension on this S197.

Angel: Thanks for having us again.

Bill: I mean, as far as the shocks and struts and springs, it's a great package. Now adding the sway bars at the end is really gonna finish this car off, a good set of wheels and tires. This will be a good handling S197. As far as the installation for the sway bars goes, it's pretty easy. Figure about an hour. You'll be back on the road in no time.
