1970 Ford Bronco VIN Decoder
Last Updated February 23, 2024 | Kevin BrentFinding the necessary components to restore your vintage '70 Bronco can be quite challenging. You'll need to have a clear understanding of the original parts that were included with your '70 Bronco model. Luckily, you can obtain this valuable information by decoding the VIN and data plate of your 1970 Bronco.
The data plate identifies significant details such as the series, body style, transmission, axle ratio, and color of your '70 Bronco. The vehicle's VIN will provide you with the engine code, which can be used to restore your Bronco to its original condition and also recognize any aftermarket components that may have been added by previous owners.
1970 Bronco VIN Number Location
To locate the VIN number of your 1970 Bronco, the most convenient spot is on the frame rail, positioned below the engine and before you reach the firewall. Reading the VIN from within the engine bay might prove challenging considering the engine setup. In such instances, we recommend turning the wheel as far to the right as it can go and reaching past the wheel with a camera to get a picture from behind the wheel well. This approach can offer improved access to the VIN stamp on the frame rail.
1970 Bronco VIN Plate Location
The full VIN plate is inside the face of the glove compartment door. It includes codes containing your '70 Bronco's production information. The top line of the data plate displays the following code categories: color, type, body, transmission, axle, and DSO.
