Last Updated February 23, 2024 | Kevin BrentNavigating the selection of suitable restoration parts for your vintage '75 Bronco can be overwhelming. The main hurdle for many Bronco owners lies in identifying the original components for any given Bronco model year. However, there is a straightforward solution to overcome this challenge: decoding the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and data plate of your 1975 Bronco.
Use our Bronco VIN decoder to simplify the process. This tool streamlines the task of locating the necessary parts for your restoration project. By decoding the VIN, you will uncover vital information such as the series, body style, transmission, axle ratio, and color of your '75 Bronco. The VIN also lets you to determine the engine code, which can help you restore your Bronco to its authentic condition. This valuable information will also assist you in identifying any aftermarket components that may have been installed by previous owners.
1975 Bronco VIN Number Location
Once you are aware of the correct location, finding the VIN on your first-generation Bronco is a simple endeavor. The most optimal place to find the VIN is situated on the frame rail, positioned beneath the engine and just prior to the firewall. However, finding the VIN directly from the engine bay can pose challenges due to the engine setup. If the VIN stamp is not easily readable from the engine bay, attempt rotating the wheel completely to the right and use a camera to take a picture of the VIN from the rear wheel well.
1975 Bronco VIN Plate Location
The full VIN plate is inside the face of the glove compartment door. It includes codes containing your '75 Bronco's production information. The top line of the data plate displays the following code categories: color, type, body, transmission, axle, and DSO.

1975 Bronco Trim Packages
Explorer Special Package
The Explorer Special seasonal package option shared similarities with the Ranger trim. It was available in Grabber Blue or Burnt Orange colors, accompanied by matching "random stripe" pattern cloth seats. The package also boasted an "Explorer" badge on the glovebox and a distinctive "Explorer" spare tire cover.
The Bronco Explorer holds a high level of rarity since it was exclusively released during the springtime as a strategy to boost truck sales. With primarily cosmetic distinctions, it can be challenging to determine its authenticity at first glance today. However, the unique cloth pattern on the seats provides a more reliable means of authentication. Some owners opt to enhance their base Broncos to resemble Explorers.
