TCP's truss brace connects the TCP export brace and monte carlo brace. Installing the truss brace along with the export brace and monte carlo brace provides the ultimate reduction in chassis flex and greatly increases handling performance. The monte carlo brace connects the front fender aprons to keep the driver side and passenger side tied together. This is generally the last part installed if adding all of TCP's shock tower components in stages.
Tying the export brace and monte carlo brace together is a pair of truss braces. Truss braces complete TCP's shock tower system by connecting the shock tower plates to the central span of the monte carlo brace. Split-collar clamps secure the braces along the monte carlo bar and bolt directly to the shock tower brackets.
Features:
- Lightweight 6061-T6 aluminum construction
- Lightweight mild steel rod ends
- High carbon chromium alloy steel spherical bearings
- Adjustable for individualized fit
- Adjustable with left hand and right hand thread
- Clear anodized for oxidation protection
Clamps and bracing rods are all made from 6061-T6 aluminum and clear anodized for corrosion resistance. Split-collar are 1/4" thick and tubing ends are swedged to increase wall thickness and strength at the threaded ends. The use of aluminum keeps the weight down so the shock tower system doesn't add much weight to the front end. Lightweight mild steel rod ends provide adjustment to adapt to your Mustang, even if the body isn't perfectly square.

The Tower Truss Support Braces are going to require the use of the TCP Export Brace and their Adjustable Monte Carlo Bar. These pieces here are going to wrap around the Monte Carlo, and these are going to extend over to the shock towers them self to tie all the pieces together.
For this installation we need a 3/8" ratchet, a 7/32" Allen key, a 5'16" Allen key, a 3/4" wrench and a 7/16" wrench.
We're going to begin the truss brace installation by removing just one side of the Monte Carlo Bar. We have to take the end off so the brackets for the Truss Brace can be slid over and we can mount them later.
Since we have to remove the end we're taking a quick measurement how many threads to have to the lock nuts so we can put it in exactly the same place it was before.
Now we can install both brackets for the truss braces. What we're going to do is use a screwdriver, a flat-head, just push in on that side to open them up a little bit and make it a little easier to slide them on. Now we can reattach our Monte Carlo Bar. Then reattach the nut and bolt that holds to the bracket, and tighten that down.
Don't forget to tighten down the lock nut.
All right, now we can move onto the truss braces.
Now we're going to assemble the truss braces themselves. If you look closely you'll notice the one GM nut has a yellow zinc coating, that's the one that's going to be a left-hand thread. The standard one is going to be a right-hand thread. Before we install it I'm just going to put a dab of anti-seize on both of them. Just leave a little bit between the jam nut and the tube itself.
All ready to install.
Now we're ready to install the support rods. I mentioned earlier that one size had the zinc nut and the left-hand thread, and the standard one the other size. The zinc is going to go to the truss brace outside here, this is going to go to our shock tower plate.
Put the shorter bolt through and install the nut. Then the longer bolt is going to go through the brace.
Then install the nut and tighten everything down.
We'll thread the lock nuts out to the rod, and then tighten everything down.
Then repeat the process on the other side and your installation's finished.
The Total Control Product's Truss Support Braces tie in perfectly with our Monte Carlo Bar and our Export Brace and are really going to tighten up the front end of our '70 Mach 1. They're also the easiest to install, which take around half an hour, so you'll be back on the road in no time.
