Distributor with Steel Gear for 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 Mustangs with a 5.0 Engine.
Replace your worn or broken distributor with this brand new reproduction distributor equipped with a steel gear. A distributor cap is included as well. A TFI module is required.
Features OE quality, fit and function. All new critical rubber wear components are replaced. Computer testing is performed for quality and reliability. Testing ensures you receive a properly working distributor. Every distributor is given a visual inspection before shipping as well.

The distributor distributes energy to each spark plug for firing. A rotor spins and touches contacts on the cap which completes the path for electricity. These contacts eventually become worn and need replaced. You can replace the cap and rotor, or you can replace the whole distributor for a new fresh unit. This will provide you with important new components such as the distributor gear and o-ring to contain oil. A new distributor will also look much better than your old oxidized distributor.
This distributor is equipped with a steel distributor gear. Steel gears are meant to be used with hydraulic roller camshafts equipped in some 1985 Mustangs and 1986+ Mustangs. Earlier Fox Bodies used cast iron distributor gears with their flat tappet camshafts. This distributor should be used when you have a hydraulic roller camshaft. If you have an aftermarket camshaft, consult the company that made the camshaft to ensure the correct gear is used.
If you are experiencing intermittent ignition problems, this could very well be the cause. This brand new distributor will get your Mustang back on the road and running strong.
