Our goal with our '90 convertible is to keep it stock for the most part, including under the hood. For the most part, everything is in pretty good shape. The one exception is our hood insulation. It looks like at one point in time a belt may have gone and tore a nice big hole in it. So today, I'm going to show you how to replace it.
We're going to start removing the tabs that hold our insulator to our hood. The only tool you're going to need for this install is a panel removal. As long as the original clips are in good shape you can reuse them. This one's pretty shot here. We're going to replace it with a brand new one. You can see our new insulation is the exact same as the original, right down to the embossed horse. It's easy to install it with the first one in the center here. Now we'll put the corners in. And our installation is finished.
With only a few minutes work, it's a huge improvement in how our Mustang looks under the hood. Installation should take you no more than about 10 to 15 minutes. You'll be back on the road in no time.
