Although most of us don't use the back seat of our Fox Body Mustang very often, there's nothing worse than going for that seat latch and finding it broken off. It's a very common problem in a Fox Body Mustang, and it's very easy to fix. Today, we're going to replace the latch and the bezel in this 1990 Mustang GT.

This is one of the two ways your seat latch usually breaks. It either comes all the way off, or it snaps in half. In our case, we've got to remove what's left of before we can install the new one. Since we're replacing the bezel at the same time, we can lay our screwdriver against our bezel and carefully pry off the old piece. It sometimes can be a little difficult to get off, depending on how badly broken it is. Now we're going to remove our bezel. We want to keep the screw for our new bezel. We want to make sure these two tabs get behind the upholstery and behind the little metal seat frame here to hold it in place. Now we'll install the knob. We simply line it up with the retaining tabs on there and give it a good push, and it will go into place.

The seat latch itself usually doesn't go bad, so nine times out of ten, it's just the knob that needs to be replaced. Installation is only about a minute or so, so you'll be back on the road in no time.
