With a 3” X-pipe and mufflers, this Crossmember-Back Hybrid Exhaust System is ideal for high horsepower Mustangs. Thanks to an appropriately sized outlet, the mufflers will connect to 2-1/2" tailpipes. The smaller tailpipes work with your pony's space limitations since most 3" exhaust systems won't fit around the shocks and/or gas tank on your 1971-1973 Mustang. You can select from several Pypes Performance mufflers in the drop-down menu to customize your new exhaust system. 

This exhaust system is intended for Mustangs operating between 600-750 horsepower. The 3" piping is perfect for high-performance cars that have graduated from a 2-1/2" system but still need smaller tailpipes due to space constraints. You'll receive all the necessary 3" to 2-1/2" exhaust parts to get you from the crossmember back with ease. Made of 409 stainless steel, all of the parts are covered by Pypes' limited lifetime warranty.

This high-flowing system supports engine breathability while boosting horsepower and torque. The 3" hybrid design is effective in releasing backpressure and scavenging the exhaust through the X-pipe. The result is a high velocity of flow for impressive performance enhancements.

The Race Pro Mufflers are throaty at acceleration but subdued at idle. With a straight-through exhaust flow, these are optimized for your racing demands. The Race Pro Mufflers tackle the challenge of racetrack heat with a perforated, insulated tube for quick cooling. The Street Pro Mufflers are a street/strip combo with a full sound at idle and acceleration. The Violator uses an internal louvered tube and mini sound-deflector chambers for an exhaust flow like the Race Pro. Each muffler type features a 3" inlet to a 2.5" outlet.

Additional Notes:
- This Exhaust Assembly will not fit 1971-1973 Mustangs with staggered shocks.
- Variations in headers may require modifications to the length and or angles of the intermediate pipes when connecting to the header collectors.
- Convertible owners with OEM body brace must run system under brace or fabricate brace spacers for X-pipe clearance.

Muffler Options:
- Race Pro: Subdued noise at idle but gets louder quickly with acceleration. Highest flowing option while remaining on the quiet end.
- Street Pro: Pure muscle car sound. Features a chambered design without packing, and works well with X-pipes and H-pipes.
- Violator: Straight-through design with zero packing for a loud, in-your-face start to every day.
