The Vac-U-Slot design sheds heat from the rotor while eliminating gasses and dust to keep the brake pad surface clean. Excessive heat can cause the resins in your brake pad to vaporize or "out-gas." The used friction material turns into a fine dust as the brake pad wears, which creates a layer of buildup between the pad and rotor surfaces. This, of course, will inhibit performance. Unlike your average brake rotor, StopTech's slotted brake rotor prevents this layer from accumulating. The rotor even evacuates water from the braking surface in inclement weather and rain, so you can experience improved stopping power.
The rotor hat, edges and internal vanes are finished in a durable black e-coat for corrosion resistance. To promote improved brake pad bed-in, the braking surfaces are left in a bare iron finish. In addition, the castings feature important OE details, including the extractor and set screw holes. This rotor is designed to meet or exceed rigid quality specifications, including the cooling vane designs.
