1965 Brakes

Keeping your 1965 Mustang’s brake system in excellent condition is one of the best decisions you can make for your car’s safety and for your own. You may want to get more stopping power from your factory drums or upgrade to high-powered four-wheel discs. Either way, there are a lot of options for brake upgrades.

Easily Upgrade Your Brakes

Just because your 1965 Mustang’s brakes are drums and not discs doesn’t mean they need to suffer from the issues that drum brakes had in 1965. We stock brand-new OEM-replacement drums that will help you maintain a stock feel from your Mustang. We also sell upgraded drum parts, for people who need more stopping power.

One popular upgrade to the '65 Mustang’s brakes is the addition of a dual bowl brake master cylinder. This is a great upgrade for two reasons. First, a master cylinder separates your front and rear braking systems so that if one goes out, the other will still work. This is the reason that modern cars all use a dual bowl configuration — the redundancy offers a dramatic increase in safety. Secondly, you’ll experience more overall power from your brakes, and who doesn’t like that?

If drum brakes aren't offering nearly enough stopping power you can also upgrade to disc brakes. Our conversion kits include everything you'll need to add power disc brakes to your Mustang. Since these brakes work with a wide range of wheel sizes, you'll be able to keep your vintage looks or go with a more modern set of wheels and tires.
