I just bought the  part number 656 steering shaft .for my 79 mustang. With a AJE k member. Still using stock rack and control arms. But it is a 1 1/2 shorter . And I explained what I was using and have .tried it all from pulling every end to its maximum.

You will need to replace the shaft between the u-joints with a longer one.

I have a QA1 tube k member. It pushed my steering rack forward about 2 or 3 inches is this piece longer then stock or cut to fit?

This is the same length as stock. You could use this and change to a longer DD shaft.
