Pertronix Ignitor II Electronic Ignition for V8 Engines with Single Point Distributors.

The Ignitor II has many of the same great features that the original Ignitor has, only it is smarter. Ignitor II units sense the coil current level and use a powerful micro controller to adjust the dwell. Variable dwell helps to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range.

When you want to make sure your classic ‘Stang will start with the turn of a key, you need an ignition ignitor that will make sure that happens. Petronix is one of the most dependable and reliable manufacturers of Mustang ignitions on the market, and their Ignitor II is specifically designed to work with classic-era Mustangs. The simple, smart design makes this ignition part easy to install, and it even comes with all the hardware you need to securely install it in your Mustang. With all of that in one convenient package and backed by Pertronix’s impressive track record, you can be sure you’re getting quality when you buy this ignition.

Ignitor II systems develop up to 4 times more energy between 3000 and 5000 RPM than standard ignition systems. High RPM performance is improved when used with the Flame-Thrower II super low resistance (0.6 ohms) 45,000 volt coil. With that level of craftsmanship coupled with an outstanding volt coil, your ignition won’t just make your Mustang start — it’ll make it run better.

Pertronix Ignitor II Features:
- Adaptive dwell maintains peak energy throughout the entire RPM range, reducing misfires while improving engine performance
- Peak current level is reached just prior to spark for maximum energy without the heat build-up
- Adjusts spark timing at higher RPMs to compensate for the inherent electronic delay
- Senses start-up and develops more energy for quicker, easier starting
- Built in reverse polarity and over current protection shuts off system, preventing damage
- Rotating cobalt magnets trigger a Hall Effect integrated circuit
- No points to burn or moving parts to wear out
- Epoxy molding makes the module impervious to dirt, oil, grease and moisture
- Fits entirely inside the distributor
- No black box to clutter the engine compartment
- Stable timing, no need for any adjustments
- Will trigger most multi-spark CD ignitions
- Uncomplicated wiring makes for easy installation
- Legal in all 50 states and Canada (C.A.R.B. E.O. #D-57-2)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Simple I ordered this product as well as a coil, cap and rotor living in Australia. Arrived 2 days earlier than the expected shipping date! Very easy to install for someone not mechanically minded. Car fire up right away and will save me from being stranded because of my points. 10/10 would recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Replacement I bought this to replace a over 20 year old Pertronix ignitor. The engine was redone with a mild cam and I wanted to give it a little more juice with the new Flamthrower coil I already had. Figured that since there was probably a lot of changes since the old one was installed; I made the change. Fairly simple to install and just adjusted the timing a bit. I really haven't driven very much to be able to tell if there is any difference to the old one at this time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome product I have limited mechanical skills and was still able to install this and the coil in under an hour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Petronix Ignitor II Installation was simple and easy. Works as advertised. Only improvement that I would suggest is a easier way to shorten the wires to coil, possibly a plug-in system with 2 or 3 different wire lengths provide with kit.

will this work considering the stock 1965. 289 single point may have the built-in resistor. will the resistor need to be bypassed< will it remain in the harness. any danger of damage? I have a Painless system installed and i do have the resistor. help?

Asked by: ebeach5
Our ignitors want a full 12 volts to them and since you are running the Ignitor 2 you should have a coil that has .6 ohms of resistance. That would not require a ballast resistor either.

Would timing need to be readjusted after installation of this product?

Yes re-adjustment will likely be needed after installation.. After initially setting the timing though, these do not need periodic adjustment like standard points.

Will this work on a 1973 351C-2V

Asked by: Ferndog
Ferndog, Thanks for the message. This unit will fit any OE single point distributor produced by Ford from the years of 1957 through 1974. As such, if your 1973 351C uses a OE points distributor, you have selected the correct part! Best Regards, PerTronix Customer Service Team.
