PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1978 Mustangs with 289/ 302 engine and automatic transmission, and 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Mustangs with 302 engine and manual or automatic transmission.
If you've increased the compression of your engine or need a replacement alternator, PA Performance's High Torque Mini Starter is a perfect choice. The High Torque Mini Starter offers better torque, requires less cranking amps and weighs much less than the factory starter. Never worry about being stranded in a parking lot unable to start your engine.
The PA Performance High Torque Mini Starter works well on engines with up to 12.0:1 compression. Features 1.4kw of cranking power and weighs pounds less than the bulky factory unit. Also provides additional clearance for long tube headers. The starter's very small size increases header clearance and reduces the effects of "hot start".
Early factory field wound starters weigh around 18 lbs. The mini starters weigh in at 8-1/2 lbs. which is over 50% less than the factory starter! Even with the small package, the starter packs a bigger punch and requires less cranking amps.
Includes the conversion wire kit for “Upgrade Applications” but it is not used with “Direct Replacement” applications. This unit is smaller than the early starters and the same size but with a stronger output compared to the newer (early 1990s') starters.
All starters are 100% new, tested prior to shipping.
