The crush sleeve keeps the bearings pressure consistent in the bearing cups providing excellent wear conditions for years to come. With this pinion crush sleeve coming from Ford you know that the overall fit is identical to the original one found on your Ford 9" Rear End. The rear pinion gets tightened to the proper torque specs crushing the sleeve. This crush sleeve is recommended to be replaced when performing any kind of service to the ring and pinion.
