Spring height is 800 for stock 302 (1968 vintage) what is the e-street height? Worried about coil bind. Also using comp cam 268 high energy cam.. Push rod length is increased? Approx. how much

Asked by: Flathead8
No issues what you are asking here, Comp 268 Cam no problem whatsoever, same length push rods, hardened for guide plates, 1.800" installed spring height....push rod length 6.800"........

If I change the springs can it be compatible with a hydraulic camshaft? Or what would I have to do to make it work with a hydraulic camshaft?

Asked by: Gilbert89
Sorry E-Street cylinder heads are not compatible for hydraulic roller camshafts, have been this way since they were released when new, the reason is the valves and valve seats they cannot be used for hydraulic roller camshafts....

I can't understand why these heads can't be used with hydraulic roller camshaft, Seems to work fine for me

Asked by: Doug83gt
The Edelbrock E-Street cylinder head line was not and is not intended for hydraulic roller camshafts, here are a few reasons why they do not condone them with hydraulic roller camshafts, they do not come with the hydraulic roller spring pressures, they come set up for flat tappet camshafts as they only have 120 lbs./seat pressure and 320 lbs./open pressure, hydraulic roller set ups have 150 lbs./seat pressure and 420 lbs./open pressure. If you choose to use these or are using them already with a hydraulic roller camshaft, you most likey will not be able to rev your engine above 5,500 rpm, up to 6,500 rpm like hydraulic rollers can....bottom line, most likely because of the price point is why.........these might be used with a hydraulic roller camshaft...........as the correct cylinder heads do cost more....

how come this one with the larger intake valves is the cheaper one , when all specs look the same? http://www.cjponyparts.com/edelbrock-cylinder-head-e-street-stud-mount-170cc-pair-289-302-351w/p/EDL5023/

Asked by: bside85
As you have noticed, the E-Street versions will cost less, than the Performer & Performer RPM versions, and the Performer will cost more than the Performer RPM, because of the extra machining time to perform the exhaust heat passage in the intake flange, plus they’re 50 State Legal. ALL cylinder heads we sell complete, are ready to install right out-of-the-box, the bare cylinder heads will require a valve job & guides honed to the valves that you choose for correct valve stem to valve guide clearance.
