We're here with our battery apron repair kit for your '64 through '66 Mustang Coupe, Convertible, or Fastback. Our kit comes with everything needed to replace that often rusted area on your early Mustang. The kit includes the correct style group-24 battery tray, a brand new hold down clamp, and all the hardware for the clamp as well.
The battery apron comes ready to weld on. It's predrilled for all of the additional accessories, as well as including hardware, pre-drilled holes for your fender mounting brackets, your battery terminal rubber shield, starter solenoid, precut hole for your wiring harness, and pre-drilled for the battery tray mounting hardware.
Here you can see our battery apron installed on a 1965 Mustang Coupe. You can see it welds to the side of the shock tower, top of the frame rail down here, and welds into your radio support in the front. The battery tray is going to mount right here in the front corner.
Because of battery acid, many times the battery tray is going to rust out first. It's a good opportunity to remove the battery tray and check your apron before you order replacement parts.

Typical aftermarket
Depending what level or car your trying to produce this part may or may not work. The ripples you see in the apron is how it is (not in original) and the folds in the metal are not the same as OE (rounded edges vs pointed) Also, the large hole for the headlights wire harness is over-sized and not in the exact spot. If your trying to produce a high class show car, try and salvage what original metal is there or get yourself a good body man who can fabricate higher quality. Otherwise for the driver or hobby show car guy they do the job and are far better than rusted out OE.

just like the original fits great, the original was rusted out and this fit great and at a great price too
bought this kit and installed it with very little alteration.THe fit was almost perfect,needed a little trimming to fit properly.
