Poor replacement

Although this turn signal cam is exactly like the original, there is no way to install it correctly. The original is held to the body of the column harness by a center punched pivot. The pivot is likely to be damaged removing it, and the push washer clamp they supply replace the original clamp is unlikely to hold the turn signal actuator. Additionally, on a 69 there is a very thin plastic/rubber washer to insulate the actuator from the column harness electrically. On a 42 year old car, this insulator deteriorates IMMEDIATELY after you pull it off and you're left with a pile of dust. A replacement is not supplied.

I've seen horror stories about changing this. Everything from the clip that the other reviewer mentioned, to any or all functions not working correctly except the turn signals. Maybe I had beginners luck being my first time or maybe because the other component was in good shape. I hated spicing wires from the original but with this part it's necessary. Just make both the new and original as short as possible to work with, due to very limited space to put the cam back in place. I was actually able to save the original clip. The other reviewer was right the supplied one is very loose. I've seen original style at the hardware, better to fine one if your broke. I forgot to disconnect battery at first so I lost the horn/hazard fuse. Be mindful of this if all functions don't work at first. Could be this fuse, I lost left brake light and hazards. After new fuse
